Protocol: BPlim
General Conditions of Access to the use of BPlim
Encouraging the development of a research climate among UAL’s academic community in the area of Economic and Business Sciences, which stimulates scientific production and publication, is an institutional imperative, both in terms of the accreditation and evaluation of 2nd and 3rd cycle programmes and in terms of the FCT’s evaluation of the scientific activity of the researchers integrated into the CICEE and consequently of this component of their teaching career.
The Centre’s main statutory objectives include:
“The production and dissemination of research projects, favouring the multidisciplinarity of the various areas of Economic and Business Sciences and interaction with other areas of scientific knowledge,” and “The promotion and support for the development of individual and collective scientific research activities and projects, including those arising from master’s dissertations, doctoral theses and post-doctoral work, within the scope of economic and business sciences, and the articulation and promotion of synergies between lines of research already existing at UAL.”
To fulfill the aforementioned objectives, the Centre has established a Protocol with Banco de Portugal to provide its researchers with access to “Microdata Research Laboratory (BPlim) Data.”
The regulation describes the conditions for the use of “BPlim” data by permanent and guest researchers at the CICEE, which are derived from the 26 September 2018 version of the “GUIDE FOR RESEARCHERS USING BANCO DE PORTUGAL MICRODATA RESEARCH LABORATORY (BPLIM) DATA“, hereinafter the “GUIDE FOR RESEARCHERS“.
Any permanent researcher(s) and/or guest(s) of the CICEE may request the use of BPlim data. The request may be made by any researcher (s) and/or guest (s) involved in a research project(s) integrated into a research line(s) already existing at the Centre or in one to be created at the proposal of that researcher(s). The Bank of Portugal will be informed of the composition of the body of researchers integrated into the Centre, the research lines, and the projects underway.
In accordance with the provisions of the “GUIDE FOR RESEARCHERS,” access to BPlim’s data is requested by completing the “Declaration of Confidentiality and Use of Data,” a copy of which in PDF format must first be sent to the CICEE for registration via e-mail: cicee@autonoma.pt.
Once the “Declaration of Confidentiality and Data Use” has been received, the “Variables_CB_BPLIM Request” form will be sent immediately to the researcher(s).
