    – AlWaste Project (coord. Eduardo Cardadeiro): sustainable management of <\/span>urban waste generated by tourism activity in the Algarve, with <\/span>models for quantifying the impact of tourism on waste production, <\/span>extended in the period to the entire mainland territory; article published <\/span>in the <\/span>European Review of Business Economics<\/span><\/em>, communications at the 14th <\/span>International Technical Waste Days (Azores) and at the 2026 AEDEM<\/span>
    Global Summit, CICEE seminar (25\/3\/2026) and CEU–Algarve Tourism Region <\/span>protocol to support the project.<\/span><\/p>\n

    – Sustainable consumption and sustainability communication of brands: <\/span>moral licensing triggered by sustainable communication <\/span>(<\/span>Frontiers in Sustainability<\/span><\/em>); motivations for adopting the <\/span>capsule wardrobe (<\/span>Journal of Sustainability Research<\/span><\/em>); sustainable <\/span>brand extensions in Portugal and Turkey – extension fit,<\/span>

    – Natural capital and climate change impacts (Rui Neves):<\/span>
    modelling the response of economic sectors to climate change and <\/span>assessment of the effects of climate projections on natural capital <\/span>assets, with particular attention to tourism; calculation and mapping <\/span>of climate impact indices in tourism at national and regional level; <\/span>publication in proceedings on interactive computational modelling in the teaching of <\/span>climatology; article under review on problem-based learning <\/span>in coastal management teaching with GIS and chapter under review on <\/span>StoryMaps and sustainable tourism (Edward Elgar).<\/span><\/p>\n

      2.\tProjects to be developed and main objectives<\/h3>\n

      \u2013 AlWaste Project (Eduardo Cardadeiro): completion of the national model for quantifying the impact of tourism on urban waste generation; continuation of collaboration with the Algarve Tourism Region (CEU\u2013RTA protocol); submission of the article “Tourism-Driven Municipal Waste Generation in Portugal” to an international journal by the end of 2026; development of the information model for the waste component of the Observatory for Sustainable Tourism in the Algarve and support for the international certification of the region as a sustainable destination. The pace of the project is hampered by a lack of external funding (fieldwork on best practices in waste management would involve a dedicated researcher).
      \u2013 Sustainability in consumption and brands (Jos\u00e9 Magano): conclusion of the review process of four articles \u2014 a model of the dynamics of moral licensing systems induced by brands (Frontiers in Sustainability), “The Liability of Foreign Greenness” (International Marketing Review), internal communication of sustainability in projects (Journal of Project Management), and organizational maturity and measurement of the impact of sustainability in projects (Systems, with Cl\u00e1udia Sousa Silva and Gilbert Silvius); submission of “Between mandate and backlash: sustainable marketing innovation under directionally incompatible regulation” to the Journal of International Marketing, in conjunction with line 9.
      \u2013 Sustainable project management: chapter “Sustainable Project Management as a Catalyst for Innovation and Productivity: An Integrative Literature Review” (Springer, Productivity and Innovation, under review).
      \u2013 Longitudinal mapping of sustainability research in leading management journals (S\u00e9rgio Pontes, Carlos Freire, with ISEG\/ADVANCE-CSG): conclusion of the text mining analysis of the corpus of 40,664 articles (2000\u20132025), typology of research flows and article submission.
      \u2013 Natural capital and impacts of climate change (Rui Neves, with IDL and the University of Algarve): identification of key natural capital sectors and their vulnerabilities, econometric modeling of tourism demand and calculation and mapping of climate impact indices on tourism at the national and regional levels; conclusion of the review processes of the article on teaching coastal management with GIS (Journal of Geography in Higher Education) and the chapter on StoryMaps and sustainable tourism (Edward Elgar).
      Objectives: to consolidate AlWaste as the basis for the Observatory for Sustainable Tourism in the Algarve, to publish the works under review, to expand research on sustainability signals in an international and regulatory context, and to produce a reference map of sustainability research in management.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
